WORRYING
Go!
Worry is one of the most disabling forms of thought there is. It is simply an attempt by the chattering "monkey mind" to feel as if it is in control by anticipating every possible outcome. It is a well known saying that "90% of what we worry about never happens." If you consider yourself a "worrier", we have some techniques that can help calm that anxiety and bring clarity to your weary mind.

SOLITUDE
Go!
The first step to quieting our incessant thoughts is to get re-aquainted with ourselves and comfortable in our own skins. human minds are reactive and are hard-wired to constantly respond to stimulus. Fortunately, the brain's nature is plastic. We can slow and stop the growth of old reactive pathways by ceasing the thoughts that feed them. We recommend moments of solitude. Here we suggest some ways to be with yourself, take a break from the action and find that silence that is so important to recovering your true path.

MINDFULNESS
Go!
Mindfulness is the formal practice of Presence. It is a form of meditation that focuses on the present moment with acknowledgement and acceptance of both our bodily state and our feelings. Here, we reconnect our minds to our hearts and learn to accept the truth of What Is with gratitude, because there is no greater gift than the truth.

CURIOSITY
Go!
Once we have practiced at quieting our feverish brains and come back to the present, how do we engage our minds productively?
As we said in The Gateway,"The proper function of the mind, is to interpret present reality with as much clarity as possible and to guide the individual to appropriate action…in the Now". The first step to interpreting our reality is to become curious about it. What's going on out there? We can begin, now, to take the time to really see the people around us, how they feel and why.
What are we experiencing at home? At work? What would it be like if this or that were different? What opportunities does a certain problem present? What would make it right? What would make it even better? The more curious we are, the fuller picture of our reality we can paint. And that leads to better choices.
